Shortage of Directors and Group Leaders
It appears from my experience and after discussions with Child Care Centre Licencees & Directors we have a shortage of Directors and Group Leaders in the area. The response to advertisement is low, however we've been able to fill positions as we continually grow our data base. My concerns are that the government has given the ok for more centre's to be opened, however we are already experiencing difficulties in getting good experienced staff.
I speak to people every week that leave the industry for more pay and less responsibilities. Many of the people studying the Diploma in Early Childhood further their studies to become Teachers and potentially earn 3 times more money. So I guess we need more of an incentive to keep people in the industry.
We would like to encourage stay at home mums who would like a couple of days work and flexibility (choose your days you want to work!) to register with us for relief work in a Child Care Centre.
